One UI 5: New features
Notifications become Initiative
The upcoming System update is making One UI 5 notifications more intuitive, making them easier to read and adding more defined interactive buttons, like the ‘answer’ or ‘decline’ button when getting a call.
Good Lock App
By using this app, users will be able to use a video as their lock screen wallpaper. Elements like the clock and notification pop-ups can also be changed now. It is bringing more wallpapers to choose from for your home and lock screens, including new color and graphic options.
Bixby Text Call
This feature allows you to answer and communicate with a caller via text. Bixby reads your text to the person calling and, likewise, converts their voice to text. It sounds like a clever way to take a phone call when you’re somewhere loud or need privacy.
New and Customized Widgets
Widgets on the One UI 5 home screen will also be more customizable. Stacked Widgets will allow users to drag and drop widgets on top of each other to create a scrollable stack that can offer the functionality of multiple widgets in the same area while occupying less space on the home screen
Other features include the ability to extract text from images, control all connected devices from your phone from a single menu, and access features like Quick Share, Smart View, and Samsung DeX more easily. A new Auto switch Buds menu will also let users switch their earbuds from one device to another with ease.
There’s also a new notification on the share panel that will warn users when they are about to share photos that may contain sensitive information like your credit card details or passport number.
The new feature called Modes enables you to schedule specific app settings and functions for various times of the day, such as before bed or during exercise.
