Twitter Quickly Throw Away ‘Official’ Badges for High-Profile Users

Microblogging Platform- Twitter rolls out a new “official” badge for high-profile accounts. For the unversed, a short-lived “official” badge was used to label government figures, businesses, major media outlets, and some public figures.

Twitter users noticed that the Official badge is appearing on more Accounts overnight. Many users are complaining that the new Official badge is looking cluttered beneath the existing verified badge

Taking about the new badge, Elon Musk tweeted:

“Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months,” he tweeted after saying that he had killed the program. “We will keep what works & change what doesn’t.”

Elon Musk acquired the platform last month. Since then, he made lots of changes to the Platform. He wants that the users must pay $8 to get badges that will help celebrities, public figures and organizations protect their identities on the platform.

After taking Twitter, he first fired all the top executives of the Platform that includes Parag Agrawal. Besides this, he laid off nearly around 50 percent employees of the Company. Although later, he asked some Employees to come back.

People have Mixed Reactions over Elon Musk’s new Official Badge

People have confused reactions over Elon Musk’s moves after acquiring the platform. Many Celebrities are not happy with the move and decided to say goodbye to the platform.

With each passing day, Hollywood stars are quitting Twitter in the aftermath of Elon Musk taking over the social media platform. They aren’t happy with the kind of decisions being made by Musk and the new changes he is introducing on the platform, like the $8 fee for the blue tick.

The big Celebrities that left the Platform After Elon Musk’s takeover include Whoopi Goldberg, Amber Heard, Shonda Rhimes, Gigi Hadid, Sara Bareilles, Toni Braxton, and more.
Whoopi Goldberg announces that she is leaving the Platform. Since then, her Account has been Deactivated. She said:
“People keep saying it’s free speech, but all speech is not free speech,” Goldberg said. “Some speech is not OK free speech. So everybody has to agree on that, but if people keep saying ‘You hurt my free speech’ it’s going to be a problem. You know what? This is our problem girl. But it ain’t my problem today because I’m out.”
Musk’s ex-girlfriend also deleted her Twitter Account. Although she had not announced any reason for doing so, with Musk taking over the platform the basic assumption is that she wouldn’t want to be part of it, especially after the messy court proceedings earlier in the year with Johnny Depp.
